An unlikely discovery of some astronomers in the outer space near a star named KIC 8462852, may actually be the first scientific evidence of an alien megastructure. Astronomers Tabby Boyajian and Jason Wright recently discovered a strange and mysterious giant structure near star KIC 8462852.
According to yahoo, right now astronomers and other experts have options to choose where to categorize the said new discovery. Experts may relegate the object into the realm of comets and chunks of broken-up planets, or they may say that it is indeed an alien-built megastructure. But such conclusions are yet to be finalized until further data collection and analysis are done. Though the chance of the object near star KIC 8462852 to be an alien megastructure is low, Penn State astronomers are not completely ruling out such bizarre idea. Kimberly Cartier, a Penn State astronomer stated via yahoo that;
"It's gotten a bit out of hand." What's more, she said that the probability of this exciting, yet wildly confusing, observation being aliens is "very low". Just to clarify, neither [my colleague] Jason [Wright] or myself ... are advocating that it is an alien megastructure, but we also can't completely rule it out."
The idea of alien megastructure near star KIC 8462852 is somehow connected to the concept of light curves, or the amount of light that a planet receives from a star over a given period of time. These light curves reveal that something gigantic is blocking the light coming from the star KIC 8462852. The anomaly begins when there are no predictable patterns with the blocking of light, as planets would normally exhibit. Astronomer Wright then explained via yahoo that;
"the eclipses have very strange shapes in the sense that whatever is blocking it is not a circular object. He then added that, there's lots of them - lots of things blocking the star. When you put all that together, there's nothing like that [anywhere else] in the sky. It's unique and very very strange."
