The tech firm, Arx Pax, unveiled a crude version of a real life hoverboard, dubbed as Hendo Hoverboard, which actually levitates inches above the ground (Click For Image). The first version of the Hendo Hoverboard was far away from being McFly's hoverboard. As described by mashable, "it was big, bulky (riders likened it to riding a giant air hockey puck) and extremely difficult to ride. It also only worked on a special surface with an electromagnetic field built into it."
And this coming October 21, the tech firm Arx Pax is expected to unveil a second version of its Hendo Hoverboard. It is expected that the version 2.0 of Hendo Hoverboard will closely resemble a skateboard as contrast to its previous bulky version. The co-founder and CEO of Arx Pax, Greg Henderson, told mashable that the new Hendo Hoverboard will be longer and slimmer, and by slim it means 10 inches slim. It is furnished with front and rear kick tails and a skateboard truck that house the electromagnetic repulsion system enabling it to levitate of ground. In an interview with wired, Henderson told wired that;
"If you want to turn right on a skateboard, you lean to your right, and the trucks rotate slightly. And that little bit of rotation changes our force vectors. Skateboarders understand how trucks work, so essentially our Kickstarter backers will be able to modify them and change the trucks to their liking for harder or softer turning radiuses."
To make things even more exciting, Arx Pax enlisted the help of professional skateboard and legend Tony Hawk as their consultant. Now with Tony Hawk working behind the scene, Hendo Hoverboard version 2.0 would surely be more interesting and worth the wait.
