'Castle' Season 8 Spoilers: Fans Vow To Boycott ABC Series If Co-Showrunners Continue To Split Rick & Kate

"Castle" Season 8 fans are frustrated over Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley's decision to split Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Stana Katic).

In an interview with TV Line, Fillion even defended the co-showrunners decision to temporarily break up the onscreen couple.

"They reassured me that what was going was they wanted to get back to a time when people were rooting for the couple, rooting for them to get together, to do something," he said.

Hawley also told The Hollywood Reporter, "It's a bold choice. What's been rewarding is after the initial flurry of people going after us a little bit on Twitter, there's been a much bigger outflow of people who felt those episodes are really powerful and dynamic and are excited to see what we do next."

However, fans of the ABC series are not buying the co-showrunners' statements. One of them wrote, "Powerful and dynamic?? Give me a break. The use of Soap Opera theatrics is completely unwelcomed. What's next, Rick wakes up in the shower and it was all a dream?"

The fan continued that he will no longer watch the series because he doesn't like the direction that "Castle" seems to be taking at the moment.

Another fan wrote, "Don't know what comments they are reading that people are warming up to this story because everything I read is 90% negative. Spin, spin. Anyone out there who hasn't started season 8 yet, don't do it! End on season 7 high. Totally ruined. I quit after 8 x 03."

One fan even threw shade at the co-showrunners directly and said, "Admit it you 2 have killed the show stop hiding behind the scenes and be men and admit it!"

Some fans also believe that the ABC series should be cancelled after Season 8.

"Castle" season 8 airs Monday nights at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
