Pixar Rules: ‘Good Dinosaur’ Overtakes the Hit Movie ‘Inside Out’

Pixar's previous blockbuster, "Inside Out," is outpaced by the "Good Dinosaur" which is due to be released in six weeks.

According to Variety, 'Good Dinosaur' has generated 3.7 million engagements across the digital platforms for the past month, more than doubling "Inside Out's" 1.5 million within the same window, according to ListenFirst Digital Audience Ratings (DAR).

Both films had been featured at Disney's D23 Expo. The two track within 10% of each other on Facebook and Wikipedia, but the strengths of "The Good Dinosaur's" are in Twitter and YouTube. Todate, the trailers released by "The Good Dinosaur" have successfully generated a higher volume of Twitter buzz and views as compared against "Inside Out."

Sony's "Hotel Transylvania 2," is another animated film held on the leaderboard for the fourth week and cracked $200 million worldwide this week.

Despite a fall of "The Good Dinosaur" from fourth to fifth overall, fans still continue to flock to YouTube and check out the #1 Comedy in America and check in at theaters.

Pixar had a good year when "Inside Out" gained a massive success this summer. That movie was a financial hit, but the upcoming "The Good Dinosaur" could be even bigger.

The dinosaur adventure has generated "3.7 million engagements across digital platforms" in the last 30 days. That number has more than doubled the 1.5 million engagements of Inside Out.

Cinema Blend said "The Good Dinosaur" changed directors in the middle of production. There were extensive rewrites that lead to the scrapping of almost all of the recorded dialogue, and the entire voice cast was replaced.

The change resulted to the delay of the film as The Good Dinosaur was originally scheduled to come out last year, and so there was no Pixar movie in 2014.
