A new TV show is coming to CW and it is expected to become a new obsession for a great number of TV viewers.
Atlanta's got a new outbreak but it is not relating to the Zombies of AMC's "The Walking Dead." From the creators of "The Vampire Diaries" comes a new show titled "Containment" that will follow an "epidemic" that breaks out in Atlanta leaving the entire city quarantined and the survivors continuously fighting for their lives. The sickness does not turn one into a zombie but it is deadly.
To tease what this new show "Containment" is about, producer Julie Plec, along with the rest of the cast and crew of the upcoming new show, presented a pilot episode at the recently concluded New York's Comic Con 2015. While the rest of the series details are still a secret, the Comic Con panel was able to provide some interesting spoilers, according to Design and Trend.
The upcoming CW series is actually inspired by Belgium show, "Cordon." The show creators describe it as a horror movie with romance and conspiracy. In an Entertainment Weekly report, showrunner Plec has noted, "You get both the experience of watching a horror movie and a beautiful, nice character drama at the same time."
To further tease fans, the cast includes "The Vampire Diaries" star Chris Wood. At the Comic Con panel, he hinted that his role in the new series will be very much different from his Vampire Diaries role as Kai. He also said that fans will be thrilled with his on-screen romance with schoolteacher Katie (played by Kristen Gutoskie) in a story with a "no touching" policy because of the very contagious virus.
Speaking of this romance, Wood said, "It makes it more exciting that there's this definitive restriction of how close they're allowed to get. And physicality is an essential way to express the connection that they have. At some point in the season, if the sparks continue to fly, that's going to be something that's going to be in their way."
To make "Containment" more exciting there will be interesting characters. A police officer with a girlfriend and best friend trapped in Atlanta, an eight-month pregnant teenager and a doctor who will be finding the cure.
The show will premiere in 2016. In the meantime fans can watch the trailer here.
