‘Rick and Morty’ Season 3 Spoilers: Show Creators Hint Return of Previous Characters and Cliffhangers

"Rick and Morty" season three is a long way off but creators of the show hinted of the possible comeback of previous characters shown in the past two seasons.

The third season of "Rick and Morty" is not coming anytime soon but according to Movie Pilot, it will not take as long as the first two seasons that took over a year and a half to be released. Co-creator Justin Roiland previously mentioned that production issues marred the speedy release of season two and if the team has overcome such challenges, there is no reason not to believe this forecast.

What made "Rick and Morty" different from other shows of the same genre is that it is not limited to overarching plots. As case in point, it was Rick who was the reason why the world is going to end which forced them to move into an alternate reality in "Rick Potion #9" which is the sixth episode of the first season. It was only mentioned once after the episode and it was a flashback feature called "Rixty Minutes."

In the same report, it was mentioned that this lack of compliance to the norm of having larger narratives is what allows "Rick and Morty" to have great creative freedom that works perfectly well for this brand of comedy. It was also raised as a question whether old characters will be back like Evil Morty.

In "Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind" there was cliffhanger that showed Evil Morty being controlled by the real Morty. He then disappears in a flood of Mortys. Co-creator Dan Harmon said, "Our instinct was; let's not ruin this by curling back in on our own tail too soon. There are a couple of instances where the joyful TV viewer in me says we should've done another Meeseeks episode. But overall we had a very gun-shy approach of avoiding that temptation."
