Droid Turbo 2 & Droid Maxx 2 Release Date: Verizon And Motorola Set To Launch New Flagship Devices on Oct. 27 via Droid Event?

Verizon and Motorola have announced that it will hold an annual media event on Oct. 27 in New York City. It was said that both companies will officially unveil the Droid Maxx 2 and Droid Turbo 2. An invitation to the media was released last week for the joint scheduled event.

The press invitation's bold tagline reads: "Everything you expect from a phone will change. Please join Verizon and Motorola as we unveil the newest Droids."

Fans are reportedly expecting that a new Droid Turbo 2 and perhaps a Droid Maxx 2 will be publicly unveiled at launch, a report from Tech Times said on Monday.

"It's widely believed that Verizon and Motorola will launch the Droid Turbo 2 and Droid Maxx 2, which we reported on in May. The latest details on both smartphones suggest the Droid Turbo 2 will be a flagship handset with a 5.5-inch 2560 by 1440 quad-HD display, Snapdragon 810 processor, 3 GB of RAM and 20 megapixel camera," the report said.

According to the report, mobile experts claim that Droid Maxx will have the same features with Moto X Play. The upcoming phone is expected to feature a 5.5-inch 1920 by 1080 Full HD display. Inside the device is a Snapdragon 615 mobile chip processor with 2 GB of RAM. The phone's camera is expected to feature a 20 megapixel camera. The battery will sport a large 3,630 mAh battery.

Aside from these specs and features, both Droid Turbo 2 and Droid Maxx 2 will be powered by Android 5.1.1 Lollipop once the devices are shipped. However, it was stressed that both phones will be updated with Google's latest software in the coming months.

"In terms of other major features, Verizon and Motorola have teamed up to offer Moto Maker support for the Turbo 2. Like with the Moto X Pure Edition, the Turbo 2 will have countless combinations of custom options, including leather and ballistic nylon, which was an exclusive to last year's Turbo and a favorite texture," Droid Life said.
