Knoll House Hotel for Sale: The Property That Inspired Author Enid Blyton Book Series, ‘Famous Five,’ Available for £15M

People who are looking for a seaside property with a rich history may just have what they need in the Knoll House Hotel in Studland, Dorset. The hotel is said to be the place that inspired famous book author Enid Blyton to write her book series "Famous Five."

According to Daily Mail, Blyton would visit the place three or four times a year and would write her stories there. The adventures that she wrote were then known as "Famous Five."

Knoll House Hotel is situated in a remote area, on the tip of the Isle of Purbeck. The property is ideally situated by lush trees and massive lawns, and a few feet away from the hotel is the Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour.

According to the site, in Blyton's book "Five Have a Mystery to Solve," the author mentions Whispering Island, and a note in the book reads, "Yes, the island is real, and lies in the great harbour, still full of whispering trees." Meanwhile, the ruined castle featured in the first book in the "Famous Five" series, titled "Five on a Treasured Island," was said to have been inspired by Corfe Castle, which is just a few miles away from Knoll House Hotel.

According to Daily Echo, Knoll House Hotel features 84 rooms and excellent facilities, which include a spa, heated outdoor pool and children's playground. There are also various sports amenities such as a tennis court, nine-hole pitch, and golf course. The property also has direct access to Knoll Beach.

Colin Wilkins, director of development at Savills, said that Knoll House Hotel is perfect for those who want to enjoy a beachside hotel with amazing views: "It is very rare to find a property surrounded by protected landscapes with such a fantastic view across a bay to the Isle of Wight and just metres from a sandy beach," he said.

"It's not dissimilar to a Caribbean resort hotel. This is an incredible opportunity to breathe new life into an iconic British hotel," he added.
