Disney Pixar's first ever movie to feature an Indian-American family as the main characters shows a new trailer ahead of its release. According to E! Online, Disney-Pixar recently released the teaser for the upcoming animated short film, "Sanjay's Super Team." This animated film focuses on a young boy who refuses to partake in his father's religious meditation because he would rather watch superheroes on TV.
This seven-minute animated short will be shown in theaters before the debut of Disney-Pixar movie "The Good Dinosaur" in November. This animation is actually based on Director Sanjay Patel real-life experiences growing up with his Indian immigrant father in San Bernardino, California.
The animated short that is attached to the movie, "Dinosaurs," is titled "Sanjay's Super Team." According to Variety, this film by Director Patel will show that Vishnu, Hanuman and Durga as the Avengers who save the boy. It was reported that day that Patel was supposed to make a pitch for this short animation, his son, Arjun, was born so the meeting had to be cancelled. Looking back Patel says, "In hindsight, my family said it was my son's karma."
Patel has been working with Pixar since 1996 and he has worked for popular animated films such as "Monsters Inc.," "Ratatouille," "Cars," "Monsters University," "Toy Story 2" and "The Incredibles".
And speaking about this short film, Patel has said, the story is as much about Sanjay's relationship with his father as it is about the super heroes, with music composed by Mychael Danna. Patel says he was a "late bloomer in my parents' culture." After working for 10 years at Pixar, he discovered Indian art and mythology. "It helped me understand my parents, why they said, 'Sita Ram,' when I sneezed."
"Sanjay's Super Team" will be played just before "The Good Dinosaur" starts in theaters this Nov. 25.
