Only three months have passed since country superstars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert announced their divorce. Since then, the media hasn't stopped hounding the two about their personal lives. This is why all eyes will definitely be on them during the upcoming CMA Awards, where both Shelton and Lambert are scheduled to attend. This will be the first public appearance of the two together since their shocking split.
The CMA has confirmed solo performances from the ex-couple, who are also both nominated for several awards. Shelton, 39, is nominated for two awards, while Lambert, 31, is vying for four, including the highly coveted Entertainment of the Year award.
Although ex-couple run-ins in Hollywood could become awkward, a source close to Shelton has revealed to Hollywood Life that the singer will not avoid his ex-wife should he see her on the red carpet.
"Blake is not scared to see Miranda during the night because they are friends. Blake is a super nice guy and doesn't like drama," the insider said. "He will be happy to see her and will be rooting for her during the night because though their relationship has ended, their respect for each other and friendship still remain."
To their credit, Shelton and Lambert have remained amicable publicly even after their split, showing their millions of fans that there is no hard feelings for each other. They were even caught tweeting each other in the aftermath of their divorce.
"Our whole thing was, you know, we're just going to be cool about this. It is what it is. We're buddies," Shelton has said in an interview with the Bobby Bones radio show.
The 49th annual CMA Awards will air live on Nov. 4, 8 p.m. on ABC. Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley are slated to host. Other performers include Eric Church, Keith Urban, Hank Williams Jr., and Kacey Musgraves.
