'Halo 5' Updates: Guardians Day One Patch Size Revealed to be 9 GB

Classified as a "triple A" game along with the likes of PS4's Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Microsoft's Halo 5: Guardians will require players to download a day one update that has been revealed to be 9 GB in size. According to GameSpot, this information was revealed via the Twitter account of Executive producer Josh Holmes, in which he said, "@crazyherb9 The MP update (includes map content) is 9GB."

As stated in Holmes tweet, the update affects Halo 5's multiplayer or MP mode, introducing an "unspecified" multiplayer map content. It is common for multiplayer games like this to require day one update because developers often spend as much time as possible perfecting the game before launch, according to GameSpot.

So those who are very excited to play Halo 5: Guardians on Oct. 27 should ensure that they have a big amount of free space on the Xbox One hard drive. The Day One update alone is 9GB, but the game in total will be eating up a whopping 55GB, according to PC Mag. Sounds overwhelming but there may be another work around and that is to buy the digital version. By doing so, the user will be able to pre-load their copy and install the Day One update prior to its launch.

On the other hand, those who buy the disc-based version will have to wait for the Day One update to finish before they could start playing Halo 5: Guardians.

Why is the file size so big? For a game to be haile "AAA" you can imagine how much effort the developers must have put into perfecting Halo 5: Guardians. According to Endgaget, developers at 343 Industries had to build weapons from scratch to make the weapons look and sound exclusive only to Xbox One. Those are just some of the developers' efforts to make Halo 5: Guardians one of a kind.
