X-Men Spinoff Movie Gambit Eyeing Doug Liman to Direct the Film

Rumor has it that director Doug Liman will be directing two big movie stars in different big projects.

According to Deadline, it was mentioned that Doug Liman "will be on an inside track" to direct Channing Tatum for the movie "Gambit." On the other hand, there are also rumors saying the he and Tom Cruise will be collaborating on a sequel to the sci-fi movie "Edge of Tomorrow." So which movie would he most likely go for?

The possibility that the rumors are true just got higher after a recent tweet from film reporter Jeff Sneider emerged. Sneider said, "True that Channing Tatum has been courting Doug Liman to direct GAMBIT. We'll see if he goes for it though..." Apparently, the tweet is only suggesting that the "21 Jump St." actor may indeed be trying to convince the director to work on the project. The Twitter post was not a confirmation that Liman said "yes."

While the movie "Gambit" may not be the first to lose its director, the film is most likely in dire need of a director now to make it to a 2016 release. According to IGN, Director Rupert Wyatt was originally set to direct the film but has dropped out because of schedule conflict, announcing his withdrawal from the project last month.

According to IMDB, Tatum reportedly has been practicing speaking Cajun since 2014 in preparation for the role. Taylor Kitsch, who played as Remy LeBeau in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," wanted to reprise his role of Gambit but Fox reportedly wants a different face for the role and Tatum was cast for this card-throwing hero. In addition, Tatum was said to have auditioned for the role in "X-Men: The Last Stand."

Lea Seydoux ("Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol") is rumored to be part of the cast as Bella Donna Boudreaux. Gambit is currently scheduled for release in October next year.
