Claudine Zap posted on Realtor that the French-born NBA star, Nicolas Batum, now has his Oregon home listed on the open market for $2.5 million. According to Zap, the property measuring 1.5 acres, has a 6,800-square-foot main house that offers a panoramic view of the mountains, the river and the city skyline through glass walls. It has a touch of rustic design where wood ceilings are exposed, while the open living spaces and steel flooring which offers radiant heat all reflect modern living.
Originally valued at $3 million, Batum's house has five bedrooms, a master bedroom, living and dining areas, a gourmet kitchen, media/ game room, a gym, three fireplaces, decks and a bonus room. Outside, it boasts a pool, spa, waterfalls and barbeque.
The sale of the 26-year-old player's home came a year after he got divorced from his wife of two years, Melanie Pimentel. Steve Mayes of the The Oregonian reported in 2014 that a Clackamas County judge found Batum in contempt of court and breach of contract for his failure to make divorce settlement payments to Pimentel amounting to $5 million. Batum was required to give 1 million at the first of the year, while the remaining $4 million to be given in equal monthly payments over a three-year period. He was also required to pay his former wife $30,000 a month in spousal support until the $5 million is completed.
Property records showed that Pimentel signed over her interest in their Lake Oswego home to Batum. Court records also revealed that the estranged couple kept the furniture and home furnishings they possessed at the time of their separation. The two were married in Saint-Ouen, France in 2011 and had lived together for four years before their marriage.
Batum was a former player of the Portland Trail Blaizer and was traded to the Charlotte Hornets just last August. Basketball Insiders reveal that his contract with his present team gives him an earning of $13,125,306 a year.
