Real Estate Trends: Marty McFly’s House is Doing Fine as of October 2015; ‘Back to the Future II’ Had Their Prediction Wrong

Most of the predictions in "Back to the Future II" about 2015 have come true - drones, video conferences, flat-screen TVs, virtual reality glasses, and holographic advertising. But it got wrong in the prediction of Marty McFly's house.

In 1985, McFly was growing up in a three-bedroom, two-bathroom ranch amid well-tended homes in Lyon Estates. By the time he sped 30 years forward to today, Oct. 21, 2015, he finally lives in a house in Hilldale, but it's sort of a dump. The place is described as "nothing's more than a breeding ground for tanks, lobos, and zipheads."

According to Realtor, in real life, the house at 9303 Roslyndale Ave. in Arleta, CA has changed little. "This was a typical single-family residence in an older, established neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles," says Gerardo Ascencio, broker-owner of San Fernando Realty, who has been working there for 25 years. The home is in the neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley where Ritchie Valens grew up, says Ascensio.

This neighborhood in Arleta is still "a very desirable neighborhood of standard entry-level 'bread and butter' housing that is still in the reach of a first-time buyer or a move-up buyer coming out of a condo," the broker says. The average home price in this area is currently $379,000.

Similar homes near the area are selling for $399,000. It's far from the suburban area depicted in the film, and it's still more upscale than Arleta.

Washington Post said some predictions of "Back to the Future II" movie for Oct. 21, 2015 have come true but some have gone the other way around. We have hoverboards now but it's just sort of as it needs a metal course to fly around. Flat-screen TVs ,video calls, and drones are now a reality.

The Chicago Cubs win the World Series in the movie. But now they're one loss away from being out of the National League Championship Series.
