It was just last 28th of September when Samsung Pay was launched. And now, barely a month later, Samsung has announced that all major US carriers now support the mobile payment. AT&T, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Verizon, and Sprint are among the mentioned carriers that will start supporting Samsung Pay. For Verizon users, the service will prompt automatically when the Samsung Pay app is installed.
The official statement from Samsung says, "Starting today, October 21, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note5 users on the major U.S. wireless networks will be able to download and install the Samsung Pay application directly from Google Play,"
If you're unfamiliar with the whole concept of the Samsung Pay, it can be described as an easy mode of payment that is similar to the card swiping activity you do when you use a credit card at the cashier. The only difference is that, no swiping is necessary to pursue a transaction. And instead of requiring merchants to come up with an entirely different machine to cater to payments from mobile phones, Samsung Pay uses a technology that uses magnetic waves to imitate the card swiping action. Meaning, the merchants only need to use the same terminal they use for cards, and your payment transaction will push through as if you swiped a card.
It sounds too techy to be true, but Samsung was able to achieve it - allowing payment using a smartphone, at any conventional credit card terminal. The video advertisement shown by Samsung summed up the whole concept of the Samsung Pay technology. It was shown that even merchants can be surprised by the fact that their card terminals can accept payments from mobile phones without them having to install anything. It was also shown how customers can enjoy the Samsung Pay technology without having to go to fancy establishments as the mobile payment can be done anywhere as long as there is a credit card terminal.
