Maria Kluge, the widow of billionaire John Kluge, has placed her 205-acre Charlottesville, Va., estate for sale for a cool $4.95 million.
John Kluge is the man behind the Metromedia broadcast and cellphone empire who died in 2010. Maria Kluge was his fourth wife.
The 100-acre estate includes a significant plantation home, built circa 1800, a four-room guest cabin, and extensive farm buildings. Known as Featheridge, the estate has been updated with a geothermal heating system and could be further expanded with the purchase of an additional 105-acre parcel for an additional $1.08M million.
A smaller piece of the property is available for $3.875 million, says listing broker Peter A. Wiley of Frank Hardy Inc., in Charlottesville. That includes the main residence, additional buildings and amenities as well as 100 acres, but not an additional 105 acres of unimproved pasture and hardwoods.
John Kluge's third wife declared bankruptcy in 2011 and was forced to sell her once-grand winery to Donald Trump.
