An unofficial biography about Beyonce Knowles answers a persistent rumor about the extremely private singer: did Jay Z really have an affair with Rihanna?
The upcoming book, written by celebrity biographer J. Randy Taraborrelli, is entitled "Becoming Beyonce: The Untold Story." It claims to be the "first comprehensive biography ever published about America's favorite living pop icon."
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Taraborrelli dished out important parts of his book, including Beyonce and Jay Z's relationship. The pop diva and music mogul began dating in 2000. Prior to tying the knot and being an official power couple they are today, the two allegedly split in 2005, when Jay Z started to work with then newcomer Rihanna. This was when rumors about a Jay Z-Rihanna affair began to surface.
According to the author, the rumors are completely false. However, they were orchestrated by Jay Z himself, to boost Rihanna's budding career. This allegedly did not sit well with Beyonce, who briefly broke it off with the rapper.
"They spent maybe a year apart from each other because Beyoncé just wasn't sure of what to make of the situation with Rihanna," Taraborrelli said.
Beyonce and Jay Z are now married and share a 3 year-old daughter, Blue Ivy. Still, the rumors refuse to die down. Just last year, an audio-less surveillance footage surfaced, showing Beyonce's sister Solange violently quarrelling with Jay Z inside an elevator. Many believe Rihanna was the cause of their spat.
"I think it's safe to say the only people who know for sure what happened are Bey, Jay, Solange and the bodyguard who were in the elevator," Taraborrelli said of the incident. However, he added that he heard from eyewitness that Beyonce forbid Jay Z to go to Rihanna's party that same night.
Aside from the Beyonce-Jay Z-Rihanna love triangle, the unofficial biography also reveals exclusive details about the pop diva, including first-hand accounts of her first boyfriend, Lyndell Locke.
"Becoming Beyoncé: The Untold Story" is set for release on Oct. 27. Taraborrelli is also known for writing other unofficial biographies of notoriously controversial celebrities, including Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe, and the Kennedys.
