"Rick and Morty" season two is indeed better than the first one and hopes are high for the upcoming third season.
"Rick and Morty" has no real competition amongst the many television shows being aired today and the biggest challenge for its creators was making its second season better than its first airing which it did. According to IGN, there were episodes that tried to squeeze in a few rehashed concepts but as a whole, the second season of "Rick and Morty" was still a huge success.
A big draw for fans of the show when "Rick and Morty" was introduced in season one was the fact that each episode of the show can stand on its own like a mini movie. In season two, there is a slow and obvious shift with characters talking more about previous adventures they had in past episodes. The creators of the show even went ahead and made several characters to support this change in having some sort of continuity between one episode with another although with this show it is rarely as simple as going from point A to point B.
This change in approach is seen right from the start of season two with the episode called "Total Rickall." Fans and critics alike knew it was the next chapter of the first season's finale "Ricksy Business." Rick decided to use time travel to clean up the mess left after a house party and essentially split time into four dimensions which made for a ton of laughter and some moments of drama for Rick.
Meanwhile, in a report by TV Over Mind, season two's finale "The Wedding Squanchers" is the show's heaviest in terms of drama as it finally showed how each character central to Rick's story feels about the whole ordeal. Rick finally realized that he is too selfish and so he decides to turn himself in to the Federation.
