"Limitless" gets nod from CBS for a full season order.
"Limitless" is the TV series follow-up to the hit Bradley Cooper film shown in 2011 and according to Entertainment Weekly CBS has taken a liking to its performance and has ordered a full season's worth of episodes.
The show revolves around Brian Finch who also discovers what the drug NZT can do to the brain just like Cooper's character in the movie. FBI forced Finch to work for them using his super charged cognitive abilities unlocked by the drug. He is assigned a partner in the guise of Special Agent Rebecca Harris. Together they are tasked to solve complex cases that will take an ordinary individual a long time to crack.
"Limitless" was released in September and garnered 9.86 million viewers plus a 1.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic. CBS executives said that the series took the top spot in number of viewers every week it was shown in the time slot it is in. The latest survey showed that the show had 7.90 million viewers for its latest episode. CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller said in a statement, "We're excited how 'Limitless' continues to evolve creatively each week and standout with its unique style of storytelling. It's off to a strong start in a highly competitive environment."
In a separate post by Entertainment Weekly, episode five of "Limitless" showed Brian struggling between his identity as the NZT taking super detective and the ordinary Brian. He films himself saying a message to "ordinary" Brian that telling Rebecca that her father was also an NZT user is a bad idea. Brian is clearly having an identity crisis as he worries that people only like the NZT version of him. Rebecca assures him they treat him the same regardless if he is on the drug or not.
