‘General Hospital’ Spoilers & Cast Rumors: Billy Miller Leaving GH For Primetime? Actor Joins ‘Urban Cowboy’

Billy Miller could be leaving the daytime "General Hospital" soap now that he has reportedly secured a role in the upcoming FOX primetime, "Urban Cowboy."

FOX is piloting a drama which is a TV adaptation of the 1980 movie "Urban Cowboy" starring John Travolta and Debra Winger. It tells that story of a rodeo star who's involved in a Mexican drug cartel. The FOX reboot will be set in present day.

As per CDL report, IMDB's cast list shows the "General Hospital" actor Billy Miller will play as Bobby. It can be presumed that it's one of the main roles as his name is indicated towards the upper part of the list.

With Billy getting a spot in FOX's "Urban Cowboy," fans couldn't help but wonder if the actor is going to leave "General Hospital." According to Soap Shows, Miller will be taking a break from the soap early next year to make some time for auditioning to other projects and pilots. The storyline for his character in the GH has been building up and in the coming weeks, his identity of being Jason Morgan is going to be revealed. With that, his screen time would possibly wane.

But fans should fret not. Soap Shows noted that Billy is still in contract for another year with "General Hospital." This means that if he is going to leave the soap, it would be just for a short while. He is also becoming more popular so it is possible that he will even get an extension of the contract.

FOX is currently working on the pilot episode of "Urban Cowboy." According to Rolling Stone, during the summer edition of the Television Critics Association press tour in Los Angeles, Fox Television CEO Gary Newman said, "We're leaving open the possibility of bringing this back at midseason as a series. Otherwise, it would be something that we'd be considering for either summer or fall [of 2016]."
