New York City Getting its First Zaha Hadid Designed Building

A brand new condo building designed by the Pritzker Prize winning architect, Zaha Hadid is all set to grace the skyline of New York City. Zaha Hadid and her team of architects have just revealed renderings of a 11-story condominium building that is slated to come up just "adjacent to High Line at 520 West 28th Street" in the Chelsea neighborhood of the city, according to several news reports.

The condo is being developed by Related Companies, a famous property developer of the city. The company came up with the plan to develop the building and commissioned Zaha Hadid Architects to design the residential structure.

"We are proud to partner with Zaha Hadid Architects and to continue Related's commitment to the very best in urban architecture. This development will be truly unique within the city's architectural offerings, and will pave the way for future architectural achievements on Manhattan's west side," Jeff Blau, CEO of Related Companies said in a statement.

According to the official press release, the condo building will be an 11-story structure with 37 apartments. All the homes will be up to 5,500 square feet large with 11-foot ceilings, tailored interiors and fitted with modern fittings and fixtures. The building will also have core elevators, with most apartments having access to private vestibules that lead right into the homes. All the homes will have spacious terraces that will provide beautiful views of the city.

The building will also be stuffed with luxury amenities like ample recreation space for the residents, a large garden, an indoor pool and spa, playrooms and other entertainment facilities.

The design of the building screams "Zaha Hadid". The architect is famous for her flowing designs in various shapes and this new building is no exception.

"Our design is an integration of volumes that flow into each other and, following a coherent formal language, create the sensibility of the building's overall ensemble. With an arrangement that reinvents the spatial experience, each residence will have its own distinctive identity, offering multiple perspectives and exciting views of the neighbourhood," Zaha Hadid said in the press statement.

Zaha Hadid was recently named the businesswoman of the year 2013 by Veuve Clicquot's annual Business Woman Awards. A panel of judges from the famous champagne house, Veuve Clicquot, chose Hadid as the deserving winner because of her immense contribution to the industry of art and architecture.
