There seems to be no end for transfer rumors of some Chicago Bulls players' to the roster of Los Angeles Lakers. Lately the internet has been digesting so many rumors and possibilities of Bull's star player Derrick Rose to transfer to Lakers.
The said rumor contains the idea of Lakers acquiring the Bulls point-guard in a possible two way process through which the Lakers may choose one. The first option according to christiantoday is for Lakers to pay a large amount for the service of Derrick Rose. On the other hand, Lakers could actually settle for a less pricey move but immersing into a multiplayer deal, possibly sacrificing Jordan Clarkson, Lou Williams, and Nick Young in the trade process.
Aside from Derrick Rose being rumored to transfer to LA Lakers, another veteran player is speculated to be traded to Lakers. There are some circulating news about an impending departure of Chicago Bulls forward Taj Gibson in exchange for Brandon Bass come the February trade deadline.
This possible transfer of Gibson to Lakers may sound viable especially that the Bulls is loaded with big men like Pau Gasol, Joakim Noah, Nikola Mirotic and with their new addition, Bobby Portis. Allaboutrookies also mentioned that if the rumored trade would indeed be true, then Taj Gibson would serve as an additional help to mentor some of the Lakers relatively fresh players, like Julius Randle.
Aside from being a mentor and help, Gibson according to some reports would also get more valuable playing time compared with what Chicago is giving him. He would get a chance to be a great veteran player in Lakers; especially that Los Angeles Lakers Coach Byron Scott is known to prefer veteran players over rookies in his roster. And this idea of preference however had led to some criticism on how Byron Scott manages the team and its players.
With all the rumors of Lakers' trade for veteran players, it seems like the team is indeed having an identity crisis. Lakeshowlife even emphasized that it is obvious that Coach Byron Scott is giving most minutes to veteran, shunning rookie players' opportunity to showcase their talent. That is why one NBA scout is worried about the type of approach that Coach Byron Scott is showing over his team. The anonymous scout stated via foxsports that;
"The Lakers are in an identity crisis... Their focus should be on their young guys. That means D'Angelo Russell, Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson are the priorities. I'm worried that Byron Scott will ride the veterans instead and it goes down as a lost year. Scott has a lot of loyalty to Kobe Bryant and the organization..."
Now the rumors of trade for veteran players possibly sacrificing young players like Jordan Clarkson and the others may likely to be true, especially if viewed from the perspective of the NBA scout. However, still preference and rumors in particular would be of less value unless indeed actualized. The idea of Rose and Gibson going to Lakers would always remain rumor as they are basically founded on rumors as well. Guess we would have to wait for any confirmation and other telltale signs regarding the said Lakers and Chicago Bulls trade.
What do you think about the idea of Derrick Rose and Taj Gibson going to Lakers? And are you in favor of Scott Byron's preferences? Feel free to share and comment below.
