"Fifty Shades of Grey" author E.L. James recently hinted that the production for the upcoming sequel "Fifty Shades Darker" has already commenced. However, even if this was the case, there are still some speculations that the film's original release in February 2017 will be moved to a later date.
According to News Every Day, there are a lot of reasons why "Fifty Shades Darker's" release date could be moved.
First, the production didn't start on time, and until now, James and her team have not yet selected a casting director for the movie. Without the casting director, the movie cannot start filming because at least three new actors are expected to join the franchise. As of late, the roles of Jack Hyde, Mrs. Robinson and Leila Williams have not yet been cast.
Meanwhile, there are also some rumors that Jamie Dornan's wife, Amelia Warner, will give birth to their second child around the same time that filming for "Fifty Shades Darker" will be going on. According to Yibada, Dornan is more than willing to drop his role in the film if it will have any conflict with his wife's pregnancy. If this happens, Dornan will temporarily stop filming his scenes as Christian Grey, and fans all know that the film cannot be released without the actor.
In other news, some fans also believe that the possible delay in filming could be caused by Dornan and Dakota Johnson's issues with their contract.
After the successful release of "Fifty Shades of Grey," fans learned that Dornan and Johnson will not receive any increase in their pay because they are bound by a contract. Although the onscreen couple already requested that their contracts be changed, their attempts fell on deaf ears because they will still be paid the same amount until the end of "Fifty Shades Freed."
"Fifty Shades Darker" is slated to hit theaters in the United States on Feb. 10, 2017.
