Tennis Legend John McEnroe Buys Second Malibu Home For $3.34 Million

Former tennis star John McEnroe and his wife bought a second home in Malibu for $3.34 million.

The new property is a California ranch-style home on 1.5-acres off the Pacific Coast Highway. According to the listing, the 1960s-built home offers 2,800 square feet of living space, 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. An open floor plan leads from an updated, gourmet kitchen to a great room with vaulted ceilings. Outdoor living spaces include a kitchen and firepit.

Other features include over-sized glass windows, wood-framed glass doors, spa-like master suite, glass-walled bathroom and an open concept floor plan. Considering McEnroe has another house just a few miles away from this newly purchased property, market experts speculate whether he plans on giving out one of the properties on rent or will try to hop on the sellers' market.

According to a Real Estalker blog, non celebrity owners of the property first put it up for sale in 2009 for an unrealistic asking price of $8.8 million. After being dropped a little less than a dozen times, the price was finally bought down to $3.65 million in October 2012.

McEnroe is best known for the seven Grand Slam singles titles he won. He also holds the record of wining eight season ending championships, comprising five WCT Finals titles and three Masters Grand Prix titles. He captained the United States' Davis Cup tennis team and brought home the winning trophy on four occasions. He ranked World No. 1 four straight years from 1981 through 1984.
