Miami Heat's Shane Battier Buys Colonial in Coral Gables For $ 3.22 Million

Looks like Miami Heat's Shane Battier won't be leaving South Beach any time soon, even though he listed his Miami house for sale earlier in June for an asking price of $1.895 million for the Mediterranean-style home.

The basketball player has purchased a colonial-style home in Coral Gables for $ 3.22 million. Built in 1926, the 5-bedroom 5-bathroom mansion has been renovated and polished to perfection and boasts of 6,100 square feet of space fully renovated in 2008.

Battier's new home is one of the original five Florida pioneer village homes, according to the listing which reads,

Built in 1926, the home is near the 15th hole at the Riviera Country Club and features a chef's kitchen, wraparound balconies and a prime outdoor entertaining area with a black-bottom pool, cabana and gardens. Also found on the premises is a one-bedroom, one-bathroom guest house.

When Battier listed his Coconut Grove home for sale in June, rumors had it that the player was looking to leave Miami Heat. Listing agent Linda Green only confirmed that Battier and wife Heidi are selling.

"It's not my place to comment on why he's leaving this location," she said.

However, Green's boss, Realtor Mike Brunnberg did hint that the sportsperson was already in talks to buy a bigger property some time soon. He revealed at that time that the transaction has not been finalized and has yet to appear on public records.

"My understanding is that he is not going anywhere," Brunnberg said. "He's just upgrading. He likes it here."
