Sony's top executive has revealed that the company is focusing all its efforts to the PlayStation 4, thus leaving the development of PS Vita in the hands of third parties, Polygon reported.
Senior Vice president at Sony Masayasu Ito said via Japanese site, 4Gamer (translated by DualShockers), that Sony has no titles in line for PS Vita stressing that Sony is currently completely focused on PS4.
With this, there is a speculation that MLB The Show, that was published on PlayStation Vita since 2012 and PSP since the first MLB The Show in 2006, might be cancelled in the future. According to Polygon, a rep from Sony Computer Entertainment America has clarified that Masayasu Ito may have possibly spoken inaccurately or he possibly mean that there may be new titles in development for the handheld console.
Some side modes of play and presentation elements in the console version are absent from the portable edition. Players have been able to transfer their career saves to the cloud to continue them from one device to the next, a feature that led to the sports series being the first to allow save files to be ported forward to future editions of the game.
In another report, it was mentioned that chief of studios worldwide Shuhei Yoshida, said graphics become less of a "question" for the Vita that is why Sony has shifted its focus on PS4. On the other hand, even if Sony's recently said that "the climate is not healthy" for Vita to have a successor, Ito is positive that the third party development remains vigorous enough to sustain a presentation of new color choices for the handheld console. Vice President Ito also referred to the introduction of "Minecraft: PS Vita Edition" in 2014 which he believes is giving the PS Vita "a boost."
Do you think Sony will eventually stop creating handheld devices?
