News surrounding the Duggars are simply getting nastier and nastier. Just recently, five women reportedly have sued a Christian home school once used by the former reality TV family, the Duggars.
According to Washington Post, the Institute in Basic Life Principles (ILBP) in Oak Brook, Ill, is being sued by women namely Gretchen Wilkinson, Charis Barker, Rachel Frost, Rachel Lees and one who wanted to be identified only as Jane Doe. The women, collectively, are said to be seeking $50,000 in damages. The women are claiming that the institute have been allowing and covering up many instances of sexual abuse and harassment.
The attorney representing the five women, David Gibbs III, has stated during an interview that the women decided to litigate following unsuccessful attempts to address the issue with the IBLP board of directors. The said board of directors were also indicted in the lawsuit. Gibbs stressed that the women did not want to sue but the board had challenged the girls to seek further legal action saying, that the board "rather stubbornly and in my opinion rather arrogantly basically challenged the girls to bring the case."
Its founder, Bill Gothard, according to Radar Online, stepped down last year as the president of the Institution after over 30 women came forward accusing him of sexual harassment.
Parents of disgraced reality star Josh Duggar, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, have been members of the so called Advanced Training Institute of ILBP for so many years. Controversies about the said Program have surfaced following the discovery that Josh Duggar was sent to its training center after he admitted to sexually molesting five young girls, including his sisters Jill and Jessa.
Last month, it was also reported that the Christian Rehab Center Josh Duggar had checked into, Reformers Unanimous, has strong ties with Institute in Basic Life Principles.
ILBP reportedly has not yet made any comments regarding this issue.
