Blake Shelton's rehab rumors would definitely die down now after the singer filed a lawsuit against a tabloid for their false report.
Shelton's rehab rumors started making headlines after the singer called it quits with his wife, Miranda Lambert. On Monday, Oct.19, he filed the charges in Los Angeles County Superior Court against In Touch Weekly magazine for their false reporting. The "Sangria" singer is seeking over $1 million in damages and injunction so the magazine would stop reproducing the report, Us Weekly reports.
"Blake Shelton has had enough," the source said. "Mr. Shelton is not in rehab and has no plans to go to rehab."
In Touch Weekly's September issue featured Shelton on the cover with the headline, "Rehab for Blake: He Finally Hits Rock Bottom." Shelton's rehab story claims that the singer is a heavy drinker which reportedly ended his marriage with his wife, Fox News reports. The lawsuit claims that In Touch publisher, Bauer Publishing Co., repeatedly published the fake reports.
Shelton's rehab story was even made worse when the publication claimed that he cheated on Lambert. His drinking binge and cheating reportedly led to the ex-couple's divorce. The report further said that the 39-year-old singer "hit rock bottom."
"Accordingly, Mr. Shelton hereby commences this action both to set the record straight ... and to recover damages for the harm Bauer has done to his reputation," the lawsuit reads.
In October, Shelton's rehab rumors were first addressed by "The Voice" judge on Twitter. He wrote, "I'm not in rehab. I have to pick up a magazine every now and then to see what my alter ego, I guess, [is doing]."
Later in October, he told People that he's been drinking whenever he's nervous. Lambert's ex-husband also talked about how he's coping up with his divorce.
Apart from Shelton's rehab false reports, the singer is also rumored to be dating his fellow "The Voice" coach Gwen Stefani. The two have denied the rumors and remained firm that they are just friends.
