The developers of the Adobe Flash Player have recently released version 19.0.0.226, which patched an exploit for CVE-2015-7645. The developers are also busy working on updates which will prevent hackers from taking control of the affected devices.
As internet users are visiting lots of pages, their computers must be protected with an anti-virus program. They need to install a plug-in for executing rich Internet applications, viewing multimedia, or streaming video/audio files.
According to Neurogadget, the Adobe Flash Player is the most used player because it is compatible with a variety of browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera and Safari. Flash Player doesn't consume the computer's internal space because it lacks a dedicated interface, but it can read nearly all animations and effects embedded into websites.
When a new version is released, it is recommended to update it because it comes with bug fixes and other improvements. It is mandatory to get the latest 19.0.0.226 version because it addresses a vulnerability which was exploited by Pawn Storm, a Russian espionage group. The hackers used the CVE-2015-7645 vulnerability so they can attack foreign affairs ministries from all over the world, and Adobe needs to take measures immediately. Though the release of the update was promised this week, they pulled it off earlier, delivering the update on Friday.
Windows and Mac users are advised to upgrade to the new version 19.0.0.226 (15.9 MB), while the Linux users must get the version 11.2.202.540.
Intego reported that Adobe Systems released an update to resolve a widely known vulnerability in Flash Player which is being actively exploited in the wild. The updates address vulnerabilities that could allow an attacker to take control of the affected system.
"Adobe is aware of a report that an exploit for CVE-2015-7645 is being used in limited, targeted attacks," notes Adobe in their security bulletin.
Adobe Flash Player installed with the Google Chrome version will be automatically updated, which includes Flash Player 19.0.0.226 on Macintosh, Windows and Linux, and 19.0.0.225 on Chrome OS.
