Are the Beckhams Buying the Versace Mansion Casa Casuarina?

Famous celebrity couple, David and Victoria Beckham, was recently spotted touring late fashion mogul and founder of couture brand 'Versace', Gianni Versace's Miami home, the Casa Casuarina. The media is abuzz with news of the hot duo's expressed interest in the manse.

Though the Beckham family is now settled in Kensington, London, and the kids have already enrolled in school, they clearly still love America. They recently moved out of their California home a few months ago, but with Beckham planning to launch a U.S. soccer team, the family might want an American retreat. And considering the couple's style, the Versace mansion is perfect for the star duo.

A source close to the couple said to NOW Daily magazine that the Beckhams are 'very interested' in the property.

"Posh (Victoria) would be in heaven. She's positively drooling at the prospect of living there. It'll be very much a second home for them because they intend to be based in the UK from now on. But if all goes well with David's football venture they'll spend a lot of time in Miami and want a spectacular house right by the water," the source added.

Now with the Versace mansion to be auctioned off in September, the couple have some time to decide on the house. Meanwhile, the family has been enjoying their time in Los Angeles, going for horse rides and trips to Lego Land.

The Casa was first listed in 2012 for $125 million and then received a price-chopper to drop to $75 million in May 2013.

However, the home is being auctioned because the owner, Peter Loftin, has filed for bankruptcy. The home will be auctioned by the Fisher Auction Company with all its furnishings intact. To qualify for the purchase, bidders have to make a $3 million deposit and must prove their financial stability or assets worth $40 million. Once a bidder wins, he/she has to give a 10 percent deposit of the bid, immediately.

Located in Miami, the Casa Casuarina is one of the most elaborate mansions of the country. It was only an ailing apartment building when Versace purchased the structure in 1992 for $2.9 million. He then renovated the place to its current glory, spending $33 million on it. The mansion is now used as a boutique luxury hotel but is also available as a "single-family-home" purchase.
