"Wicked City" pilot episode will showcase "Gossip Girl's" Ed Westwick as a sick killer in '80s Hollywood.
Fans will forever know him as "Chuck Bass" in the series "Gossip Girl" but in his new role in an upcoming ABC television series, Westwick will be playing a serial killer who scouts his victims in the Sunset Strip in the 1980s. According to The New York Post, the 28-year-old British actor says he is not intentionally going after villain roles. He said, "These are two different kettles of fish, to be honest. I wouldn't have ever said Chuck was a villain. It's not that I'm drawn to that, it's just I'm lucky enough to come across these really fantastic, juicy parts."
"Wicked City" will air starting Tuesday on ABC and it follows Westwick's character "Kent Grainger" who picks up young women, seduces them and brutally cut their heads off. As if it is not gruesome enough, he dresses the heads to mimic the face of Marilyn Monroe. It was mentioned in the series synopsis that Grainger is doing this due to a troubled childhood which will be delved on as the show progresses.
Westwick describes the struggle his character has in coming to terms with his actions. He said, "Seeing his mother completely destroyed by the idea of fame and the idea of Hollywood ... that becomes perverted in his mind and manifests its way ... through taking lives. It's also a preservation of her and her memory."
Meanwhile, according to TV Line, Westwick will not be alone in having weird and often troublesome tendencies as he will be partnered by Erika Christensen who will play nurse "Betty." She will be attracted to Grainger and in one scene will agree to pretend to be a corpse while having sex. Betty laments the exercise is both weird and amazing at the same time.
