After some circus of rumors about Derrick Rose and Taj Gibson moving to the Lakers roster, Los Angeles Lakers finally made up their 15-man regular-season roster, with Metta World Peace included. According to the source of yahoo, the Lakers opted to choose the service of the veteran player, Metta World Peace, over a relatively new guard Jabari Brown.
World Peace, who is not new in the team of Lakers, would again prove his worth on the well decorated team. It can be remembered that after his previous contract with Lakers had expired, World Peace went to play for the New York Knicks. He also had some international basketball moments with the Chinese Basketball Association and Italian league, thus Lakers could bank on his previous experiences to guide the young core of the team.
Indeed the experience of Metta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest, could be a game changer for the ailing Lakers team. As a clutch shooter and defender, World Peace is expected to repeat his contribution over the Lakers achievement of 2010 NBA championship. From a long term perspective, this approach of Lakers enlisting back Metta World Peace, somehow affirms the rumor of World Peace being groomed as an assistant coach, according to Yahoo.
If indeed true that World Peace is being groomed for assistant coach position for Lakers, then there would be no doubt that one of his first and basic instruction would include cautioning rookie players not to trash talk Kobe Bryant. Such idea would then be in line with what lakersnation has recently reported.
According to lakersnation, some rookie players of the LA Lakers team unwisely trash talked Kobe Bryant during a practice game resulting to Bryant to flare up. According to the social media post of Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times, Lou Williams and Nick Young fired up Kobe during the practice game by talking trash at the five-time NBA champion.
Though there are no exact confirmation on who did the trash talking to Kobe, Metta World Peace still affirmed that such incident did occur. World Peace on his statement affirmed that, "Somebody decided to trash talk Kobe. That was the wrong thing to do." He then added that, "I'm not going to disclose any names because we're a very confidential organization. But it wasn't the right move. It was definitely not smart."
Though it may sound disrespectful for some sensitive fans, but such gesture somehow suggest a brewing healthy competition inside the Lakers fans. And with the addition of Metta World Peace on the Lakers roster, things are expected to be more competitive.
However, despite the brewing competition and finalization of the roster set-up of Lakers, there are still some rumors which include Nick Young being sent away to New Orleans Pelicans. According to the report of franchiseherald, there are some talks on the background about Young being sent to Pelican in replacement of Tyreke Evans who suffered an injury. But still it remains a rumor, for even Young is not sure of it, on his statement via Los Angeles Daily News Young stated that, "It was confusing. It was motivating. I didn't know if I would be here."
