Quentin Tarantino Got Into a Spat with Police Officers after Calling them 'Murderers'

Quentin Tarantino has made a reputation of a director who is not afraid to show violence and speak his mind in his films. This very trait made the police officers of New York City to dislike him and call for a boycott of the director's film.

According to cinemablend.com, Tarantino attended a rally over the weekend and called police involved in police brutality as "murderers." Police officers found it very disrespectful especially after an NYPD officer got killed while on duty, which made them call for a boycott of Tarantino's films.

Tarantino said that the rally has long been planned even before the NYPD officer's recent death and many of the participants came from far places, including him, to join the cause. The report from cinemablend.com also said that "certainly nobody expected a police officer to be killed just days before the rally."

The director's new film, "Hateful Eight" will be released on Christmas this year. With a few more weeks before the release, it is yet to be seen if the people will answer the police's call for boycott of his films.

In a report by hollywoodreporter.com, Tarantino made a strong disapproval in his statements during the rally. He said "When I see murders, I do not stand by. I have to call a murder a murder and I have to call the murderers the murderers. I'm a human being with a conscience. And if you believe there's murder going on then you need to rise up and stand up against it. I'm here to say I'm on the side of the murdered."

Patrick Lynch, president of the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association, opposes the director's statement and called him "purveyor of degeneracy."

Lynch also said that "It's no surprise that someone who makes a living glorifying crime and violence is a cop-hater, too. The police officers that Quentin Tarantino calls 'murderers' aren't living in one of his depraved big-screen fantasies - they're risking and sometimes sacrificing their lives to protect communities from real crime and mayhem. It's time for a boycott of Quentin Tarantino's films."
