'Fallout 4' News, Updates: Bethesda 'Solves' Issues of Piracy by Making Gamers Download Codes from Steam to Install the Game

It has always been clear to everyone who's into video games that developers attend to the issues of piracy. In the case of Bethesda, they have just announced that if gamers buy a physical copy of "Fallout 4" for PC, it wouldn't be playable unless they download a part of the video game through Steam.

Buying "Fallout 4" for consoles view the whole game ship on ready to play and Blu-ray. On the other hand, for PC version, Bethesda decided to ship only some of "Fallout 4" game data on a DVD with Steam code. Gamers need the Steam code for activation when installing the game and then download the rest of it.

Bethesda's vice president of marketing, Pete Hines, verified this was the case of "Fallout 4" by posting on his Twitter account. When asked about the restriction in the PC version of the game, Hines replied one word, "piracy." He also emphasized that they have been implementing this tactic for a decade now and lots of people purchased "Wolf" and "Skyrim."

Geek reported that Hines has got this really regressive. Players buy Bethesda's games because they are happy to pay for them and to play them, even if there are such requirements of data downloads to prove that gamers have paid and are installing a legit copy. Implementing this system would not really solve the problem of piracy, in reality, and it means the unavoidable pirate copies of "Fallout 4" that seem to have an edge over the legit version, with no downloads needed to play them.

Finally, for legit buyers of "Fallout 4" on PC, the developers would like to let them know that the disc they are purchasing does not have the entire game, and in order to enjoy the game, they need to go to Steam and download the rest.

What do you think about this news? Are you happy about Bethesda's way to fight piracy?
