'Doctor Who' Robot Dog K9 Set to Have its Own Movie

Doctor Who fans are in for another treat as the doctor's trusted companion, K9 the robot dog, will have his own film.

According to io9.com, Bob Baker, co- creator of K9 in 1977's "The Invisible Enemy", is the one who made the possibility of the movie take shape. In a press release released by Doctor Who team, they said:

"A new look high tech K9 for today's cinema is being prepared for film stardom.

The film "K9-TIMEQUAKE" has been written by one of K9's original creators; Bob Baker, a renowned writer of classic Doctor Who serials. Bob went on to co-write with Nick Park the Oscar and Bafta winning Wallace & Gromit series of film shorts as well as the feature film Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

The new K9 will be appearing in a Multi-Million Dollar movie which promises to be a great action adventure set in deep Space. The film will be full of dashing heroes and heroines, Androids, monstrous Aliens and an ultimate foe who will also be familiar to Doctor Who fans everywhere; the megalomaniac OMEGA.

The film is to be a UK co-production with exteriors filmed overseas and studio work planned for the UK."

In a report by techtimes.com, K9 gained popularity after occasionally guest starring on 'Sarah Jane.' The robot dog was supposed to be a one- off side kick but the fans craved for its screen time. K9 later had a show on his own, a 30- minute comedy- adventure children's show produced by studios from United Kingdom and Australia. Though the fans are looking for another season as its first ran and ended 2009 to 2010, its avid viewers are still patiently waiting up to this date.

K9's knew film will showcase the robot dog fight against a Time Lord named Omega. The robot dog will be voiced by its original voice actor, John Leeson, who voiced the character since its first release.
