Boston’s Once Most Expensive Home Returns to the Market Asking $14.5 Million

Though the house occupying the most expensive slot in Boston's real estate market (at the moment) is a residence located at 33 3rd Avenue listed for $16.5 million, the region's historic and once most expensive house has returned to the market. The residence at 130 Commonwealth Avenue is back with a $14.5 million price tag.

Despite being the second most expensive listing now, the house has managed to hog all the limelight. It could partly be due to its elaborate real estate journey.

The residence debuted in the market asking $12.5 million in 2012. It was the most expensive price tag in the property market of Boston then. However, as the luxury real estate sector of the market slid down, the price was slashed to $9.5 million. It sold in May 2013 for that price and was offered for rent by owners.

Even as a rental, the luxe residence asked $43,000 a month. The price was subsequently lowered to $39,000 and $37,000 until it got listed for the current price now, reports Curbed.

According to the listing records, the home is a five bed, eight bathroom single family residence sitting on a 3236 square feet lot. The residence itself spans an area of 9908 square feet and features beautiful Parisian architecture.

The listing at Zillow describes the home as:

Part of the famed "Commonwealth Sisters", the homes beautifully carved limestone façade stands apart from its brownstone neighbors. The finishes in the home were executed flawlessly in recent renovations by a skilled architect and artisans, whose attention to detail is stunning. Amenities of the home include 5 fireplaces, a 2,200 bottle wine cellar, a private elevator, and 6 parking spaces. With 12 total rooms, 5 bedrooms, 6 full bathrooms, 2 half bathrooms, and 6 parking spaces, this spectacular single family home is a true mansion in the heart of Back Bay.
