'Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens' News, Casts, Rumors: Luke's Absence from Trailers Intentional; John Boyega Tells About His Character, 'Finn'

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" fans are confused why their favorite Luke Skywalker isn't on the trailer that was released last week for the beginning of the pre-ticket sales.

It was revealed by Director J.J. Abrams that the exclusion of Skywalker from the film's trailer is intentional. Even if his voice was heard on the second teaser, his face is not shown on it. Apart from the trailer, even posters, toys and photos of the film doesn't show Skywalker which made fans wonder.

"It's no accident that you asked that question. But I can't wait for you to find out the answer," Abrams responded in an interview by Mirror about the absence of Mark Hamill's character from the trailer.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy also revealed that "Episode 7" will "focus on the Skywalker family saga."

"The stories follow a linear narrative that connects to the previous six films," Kennedy said according to ComicBook.com. "'The Force Awakens' follows 'Return of the Jedi' and continues that generational story."

The spotlight of the new trailers are on the new characters like Hollywood newbie John Boyega who underwent months of auditions to join the cast, alongside Han Solo and Chewbacca who would made a debut in the second teaser and on the new full-length trailer of the movie, Screen Rant reported.

"I was unleashed into seven months of auditions," Boyega said, British GQ reported. "It was like 'The X Factor' but without the TV show around it. It was intense."

Boyega said that when he got the role as Finn, he cried like a baby saying, "When I read the script I cried, and I'm not really a big crier. I'm more like a frog-in-the- throat kind of guy, who'll try to hold it in and make sure I don't let it all out."

He talked about his role saying that Finn's "story is so epic. It's a story that's never been seen before, but it also mirrors the stories of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. And he's quirky and charismatic and funny. For me, he was the best character in the script."

According to Boyega, one of the hardest part of their shooting is wielding a lightsaber because it is heavy.

"They're heavy, those things, and there's a lot of running involved. I was trained on a high incline treadmill so when it came to it I could sprint around the desert in a leather jacket. They should do a 'Star Wars' weight loss program," he said.

As for the status of the film, they are doing post-production and would be doing the final cut. Visual effects will also be finished in three to four weeks. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will hit theaters on Dec. 18.
