"Metal Gear Solid V" game director, Hideo Kojima, nearly got into a sticky situation because John Carpenter was once urged by his colleagues to sue the franchise for plagiarism. Luckily for Kojima, it did not happen.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, John Carpenter has shared about how CanalPlus compelled him to sue "Metal Gear Solid" for being quite a rip off of 1981 film Escape from New York.
But first, he talked about how CanalPlus obliged him to sue Luc Besson in court because the said director ripped Carpenter off on LockOut. The said lawsuit agains Besson ended up in a settlement in favor of Carpenter. Then he said, "[CanalPlus] wanted to also go after the video game Metal Gear Solid, which is kind of a rip-off of Escape from New York, too, but I told them not to do that. I know the director of those games, and he's a nice guy, or at least he's nice to me."
On the other hand, according to IGN, "Metal Gear Solid" director Hideo Kojima reportedly has parted way with Konami after the development of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" was completed. But there are also reports saying that Konami says Kojima did not leave the company and that he was only on vacation leave. Now why would such a nice guy as Kojima leave Konami?
The open world action stealth game developed by Kojima, "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" was released in September 1 of this year for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows. An interestingly new fan-made Nude mod for game character Quiet has been made available for download. It may not be an official mod but it looks like metal gear fans are going crazy over it. Do you think Kojima would be happy about this?
