Christian Bale's fans are in for another treat as The Dark Knight actor will play the character of Enzo Ferrari, world's famous racer and entrepreneur.
According to thewrap.com, Paramount has obtained the rights for the film for showing it domestically and select international rights to Michael Mann's project.
The film will be based on a book by Brock Yates "Enzo Ferrari: The Man, the Cars, the Races, the Machine." The story will focus during the year a Ferrari model in 1957 had crashed during a race and killed nine pedestrians, including five children.
Noomi Rapace ["The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"] possibility of playing Ferrari's wife Laura Dominica is still being discussed by the management and the film's producers. Mann had also contributed to the film's screenplay together with Troy Kennedy- Martin and David Rayfiel. The film production is believed to start next summer in Italy with a budget of $80 million.
Paramount has made a reputation of successfully distributing independently- financed films such as "The Wolf of Wall Street" that made $400 million worldwide and Mann's movie, "Collateral," in 2004. They will also be releasing Bale's next movie, Adam McKay's "The Big Short" and "The Promise" which is directed by Terry George.
In a report by variety.com, Michael Mann will produce the film along with YooZoo Bliss Film Fund and Vendian Entertainment. YooZoo Pictures holds the rights of distributing the film in China while Vincent Maraval's Insiders will start the sales on selected territories during the American Film Market next month.
Michael Mann will be represented by CAA which handled the "financing of the film and brokered the distribution deals." Vittorio Cecchi Gori and Gabrielle Israeliovici will also be part of the film's production partners.
