Jonathan Holmes is no longer with the Los Angeles Lakers. Unfortunately, the undrafted rookie from the University of Texas has been dropped from the roster line up. Still the current Lakers roster is not final yet as the trade will continue, and rumors have it that another star player might be transferred to another team this season.
LA Lakers' shooting guard and small forward Nick Young has been the subject of recent NBA trade rumors, one of which involves a potential move to Pelicans. As Tyreke Evans of New Orleans Pelicans could not make it this season due to injury, the Pelicans might get Young as a replacement, according to sports and entertainment website Grantland (via Franchise Herald).
"The league is so poor on wings who can shoot 3s and adequately defend both shooting guards and small forwards that I could see a team like New Orleans talking itself into Nick Young - even with Young's deal running three more seasons," Grantland wrote.
There was no legitimate NBA trade rumor involving the Lakers' player recently, but Grantland's article -- which listed a bunch of predictions about the 2015-16 NBA Season -- was thought to be a good move for the New Orleans Pelicans.
In an interview with Los Angeles Daily News earlier this month, Nick Young admitted that he felt confused but also motivated as he prepared for the 2015-16 season, which officially began on Oct. 27, Tuesday. The Lakers' forward reportedly had clashed with coach Byron Scott frequently during the last season, and that he spent his offseason days preparing for the team to trade him.
The Lakers kept him after having found no suitors, but they also acquired star player Lou Williams. Hence, Young said he entered this season "with a chip on my shoulder and trying to prove some stuff."
Young clarified that he and Byron are good, "but I'm using it as motivation." He added that he was only trying to do his part and to survive. "I'm trying to do everything he tells me to do. Anything I got to do to stay out there on the court," the Lakers star said.
