Adieu Los Angeles; Hello NYC – Nate Berkus Buys Penthouse for $5 Million

Famous designer and talk show host, Nate Berkus, and fiancé Jeremiah Brent bid adieu to their Los Angeles rental, which just debuted on the listing market and bought a new abode in New York. Berkus just purchased a plush penthouse in the city for $5 million.

Just yesterday, we reported the rental hitting the market and also speculated where Berkus and Brent would move. We also knew that finding a new place wouldn't be a big deal for the interior decorator and lo! According to Zillow, Berkus has picked up a co-op at 39 Fifth Avenue, 10th Street in an Emery Roth-designed building. The listing of the co-op was held with CORE group, which reported the sale to Zillow.

The couple's brand new home is a three bedroom, two full and one half bathroom residence with hardwood and marble flooring, tray ceilings and French doors and windows that offer views of the city.

Check out the pictures of the residence, here.

Apparently, this residence is just a few minutes away from the Greenwich duplex condo Berkus sold for $5 million. That residence is a 3000 square feet co-op spread on two floors of a townhouse. The residence has three bedrooms on the upper floor while the lower level houses the living room, the dining area, the kitchen and a living room. The residence also has a 1000 square feet 'private deck space.' Sounds like a solid swap!

He also recently sold his Chicago condo and has listed his Manhattan one.

Berkus and Brent are planning to get married soon. They have been called "Totally adorable" by the folks at Socialite Life. Berkus has been open about his sexuality the entire time. But how difficult was it coming out in front of his family? He recently told Oprah Winfrey about the complexity of the situation.
