'Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns' Gameplay & Update: Dev Hints Tweaks, Elite Specializations And Adventures

Avid fans and players of "Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns" can expect some major improvements and updates in the game. Game developer ArenaNet has announced some of the major changes that will be introduced in the title's new expansion like the Elite Specializations, new adventures, specializations and skills, among others, a report from iDigital Times said on Thursday.

"During the Heart of Thorns beta, Guild Wars 2 players were able to instantly access fully-unlocked specializations with all skills and abilities available. This led many players to believe that their elite specializations would be equally immediately available when the Heart of Thorns expansion launched, which was neither the case nor the original goal," the report said.

In the game's official blog, Colin Johanson explained why ArenaNet has reduced the cost of unlocking the abilities and points from 400 to 250 in the game's Elite Specialization.

"This means you will be able to access them much earlier in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns PvE or World vs. World and fully unlock them much earlier as well. This also means you'll be able to experience more of the expansion story as your elite specialization earlier on while still maintaining some of our core goal," he said.

He admitted that the company failed to align the expectations of the players to how the game's elite specialization should be earned. The recent changes, however, have caused disappointment to players.

"Our goal was always to have elite specializations as a part of character progression, but it's clear that a segment of our players was so excited about the elite specialization system and abilities that they really wanted to experience most of the expansion with them unlocked," he wrote.

ArenaNet has also selected few adventures for the game which players can access early in the game. The company claims that with the new adventure, player can compete for rewards, experiences and leaderboards.

"The Bugs in the Branches, Shooting Gallery, Flying Circus, and Beetle Feast adventures will now all be made open for play more often. While major mapwide events are going on (survive through the night, the battle for Tarir, and the Trexus boss battle), adventures will remain unavailable as the map is under assault and needs your help!" he said.
