With the recent release of Apple gadgets and latest advancements in Apple technology, it is undeniable that Apple is indeed a force to be reckoned with in the realm of technology. With its genius conception, superb designing and building of machines, one cannot help but ask how this company came to be and how come others are running second to them, if not only copying them.
Well aside from our idea of Steve Jobs and his vision for Apple, Phil Schiller, Apple's longtime senior vice president of worldwide marketing, shared some salient points via mashable on how they are coming up with ingenious ideas and how they are translating these ideas into successful consumer products.
Teamwork
"Today, those teams are not only integrated and designing something together, they're actually thinking of features that could only exist because of that integration and solving problems that could only be solved because of that unique advantage." - Phil Schiller via mashable
Together with John Ternus, vice president of Mac and iPad engineering, he and Schiller affirmed that much of the company's success is in their integration and teamwork- "team collaborates to create something new." In sense, there idea of teamwork is not a mere linear process through which one team produces an idea and the other translates the idea into a material object. However, a spiral movement directed upwards can somehow be observed from the so-called team effort. According to mashable, there is "a sort of back and forth between groups, where one would come up with an idea, lob it over the wall to the other group"
Refinement and Delivery
"We're asking for technologies and features they've never created before or brought to market, things that [our partners] wished they could do, but were never able to do" - Phil Schiller via mashable
A company like Apple is known for introducing something new and solving problems or issues that other companies were not able to do so. However, behind such notable company feature, are periods of groping for materials and suppliers. As a result of the so-called lapse in technological refinement, Apple learned to create and even refine third-party part specification. By doing so, they were able to help not only themselves but also suppliers to create a technology that even suppliers' themselves have never done before. And for the record, this kind of innovative skill is somehow lacking from other companies tailing Apple's success.
Daring
"We found that the best thing we could do is push boundaries beyond what's expected, beyond what's comfortable sometimes."- Phil Schiller via mashable
Indeed Apple continues to amaze its audiences with its latest gadgets and accessories. The company's boldness and daring attitude would perhaps be the main factor of its success, thus somehow mirroring the character of its founder itself, Steve Jobs. When other companies were still doubtful and skeptical with touchscreen technology, Apple dared the current trend and introduced iPhone, the first touchscreen from Apple.
And as the company continues to soar up high, they remained grounded and well-focused on the challenges below. They continue to balance both boldness and its possible dangerous repercussions. As Schiller would put it, "Apple puts a lot of thought into meeting expectations while advancing the state of the art."
If you would be singling out every known feature and character of the company and its workers, then you would have to jot down the entire known adjective in order to describe the company itself. However, the ones presented above, as it was also discussed by Lance Ulanoff via mashable, are mere starting point in order to serve as springboard in understanding how apple works and how it came to be one of the greatest tech companies in today's generation.
