Coming home should give you relief from the stressful day outside. However, if you are making mistakes in your design choices, they could be the reason why your stress does not seem to go away even in the comforts of your home.

Having too many throw pillows

Throw pillows are so comfortable to use especially when you want to spend the night in your sofa. However, having too many throw pillows may stress you. It will only eat up space you should be saving for yourself.

Accordingly, cluttered home is equal to increased level of stress hormones, according to a UCLA study.

Tossing your shoes on the closet floor

The closet is one of the spaces in your home that is easily cluttered. And if you just leave your shoes on the closet floor, you would not be able to look at it without getting stressed.

The best option is to have a separate rack for your shoes.

Mismatching dinnerwares

There are times that you see cute dinnerwares around the mall and decided to get one. However, when you get them out of the cabinets, you just realized the mess you created.

Do not give in to buying random dinnerwares. Plan them according to your liking. It is always best to have them matched well.

Using loud colors as main hue of your home

Yellow, red and the like may be happy colors because they are bright. But, having them in the most of the home just kills the cozy feeling of the house.

Be sure to use the design rule of 60-30-10, main color which is of neutral hue is 60%, secondary color is 30% and accents should be 10%. Also be sure to choose calming colors such as blue and white.
