"The Walking Dead" Season 6 didn't fare well in terms of its ratings during its first few episodes. However, Glenn's rumored death helped boost the AMC series' ratings to an all-time high.
According to International Business Times, thousands of "The Walking Dead" fans from all over the world were shocked to find out that Glenn could have been killed off.
"With many believing that the episode ended on a purposely ambiguous note just to draw in viewers, few will be shocked to learn that the play seems to have worked," the publication claimed.
Following Sunday night's episode, Variety confirmed that the ratings of "The Walking Dead" improved considerably compared with the previous week. In fact, before the show's most recent episode, fans were already worried that the hit AMC series will not be renewed for Season 7.
"The zombie drama averaged a 6.8 rating in adults 18-49 and 13.1 million viewers overall - up 8% in both categories vs. the previous week. It was down slightly vs. the show's third episode last fall (7.0 in 18-49, 13.8 million viewers," the publication noted.
Meanwhile, multiple publications recently revealed that Glenn didn't die during the show's third episode for Season 6. One of the reasons why Glenn's death couldn't be real was because actor Steven Yeun was recently photographed on the show's Georgia set.
Additionally, the executive producers of the show hinted that Glenn could still be alive and said that fans of Glenn will see the character or some other version of Glenn in the upcoming episodes.
Lastly, Glenn's rumored death on the TV show was very much different from how he died in the comic series.
"The Walking Dead" season 6 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC. The series also stars Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes and Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon.
