'God of War' VR Demo: First-Person Experience of 'Kratos' Impressed PlayStation President

More and more games are turning to VR as a platform. It looks like "God of War" might be skipping PlayStation 4 for its next franchise as the developer sees a future for the game in VR with the PS3 demo of Kratos

"God of War" is a series of adventure games published by Sony Computer Entertainment based on Greek Mythology. The first game debuted in 2005 for playstation 2 while its last release God of War: Asencion was in 2013 for PlayStation 3.

According to IGN, A PlayStation 3 virtual reality demo for God of War that features custom-made, first-person Kratos, was the defining moment for the game according to President Shuhei Yoshida, of PlayStation Worldwide Studios

While attending the Paris Games Week panel on virtual reality, Yoshida said, "It was actually on PS3 at Santa Monica Studios." He continued, "A developer who'd been working on God of War got me to try a handmade headset and when I put it on he used a God of War game. I was Kratos in first person view. When I looked down, I saw a strong man's body and I thought: I'm sold"

"Working on PlayStation VR, I feel like I'm back 20 years ago. I feel like I'm younger again."

According to the Movie Pilot back in May, "God of War 3" that was produced by Sony Computer Entertainment Santa Monica Studio had a cliffhanger ending which triggered a speculation that Kratos would be returning for a sequel. And just more recently, Sony has confirmed that a next God of War is underway. According to IGN, such development may still be on its very early stage and we could be looking at 1 or 2 more years for the next "God of War" game to come out

Now that the PS 3 VR demo of Kratos got Yoshida thrilled, it won't be long that fans would start speculating that the next God of War will be for VR.
