GoPro, the world-famous action camera company, will launch its drone on the first half of 2016. It has just recently released a sneak peek of the GoPro Quadcopter footage. And it is impressive.
"The footage has not been stabilized in post-production," the video says, and if that's true GoPro's got a winner on its hands.
The camera used to shoot the video is the GoPro Hero 4 which is already available on the market. What is more impressive about it is the perfect, almost dolly-like stability of the shots of an idyllic farm and a journey through the forest.
The video was released barely an hour after the company announced their disappointing third quarter financial statements which caused stock price to dive at 18%. Analysts and investors are skeptical about the company's growth and ability to produce cameras. A drone might help the camera company fly higher.
The footage is not only breath-taking, but it can also reassure doubtful investors to keep their links with the company tighter.
According to Techcrunch, 'GoPro CEO Nick Woodman revealed GoPro's drone ambitions early this year noting that the company was building its own drone, which will be available in 2016. It's widely speculated that GoPro enlisted the help of DJI to build the drone.'
GoPro is an action camera company that was founded by Nick Woodman in 2002. Woodman started the company following a 2002 surf trip to Australia in which he was hoping to capture quality action photos of his surfing, but could not because amateur photographers could not get close enough, or obtain quality equipment at reasonable prices. His desire for a camera system that could capture the professional angles inspired the 'GoPro' name.
Do you think GoPro will be able to make it big with the drone venture? Will you spend on something to capture you from the air?
