‘Fallout 4’ Art Book Details: Limited Book’s Preview Shows Off Spoiler-Free Concept Art

Game developer Bethesda on Friday shared a series of photos believed to be taken from "Art of Fallout 4" limited edition book. The 368-page "Art of Fallout 4" book is said to be produced in collaboration with Dark House publication. The book's foreword was written by lead artists Istvan Pely, a report from iDigital Times said.

"Our process is very iterative: we start with loose, rough sketches, which are gradually refined into detailed drawings that are then handed off to our 3-D artists. And even after a model is built and textured, we often revisit and rework that model until it achieves a level of quality we can be proud to ship. In these pages, we try to show a variety of images from all stages of this process. As you can see, we carefully consider every detail of the game, sometimes to an obsessive level; this is pretty much the Bethesda way," reads a foreword by Lead Artist Istvan Pely as quoted in the report.

Listed below are the contents of "The Art of Fallout 4" limited edition. Bethesda said that only 5000 copies of the book will be published, according to Polygon.

  • "A fully printed slipcase featuring wrap-around image of the Power Armor on metallic paper and soft touch lam, for a 'metal' look.
  • Hardcover soft touch art book with debossing, gloss, and black gilding features.
  • Black cloth portfolio that holds an original exclusive full-color archival printed 9" x12" mini lithograph with digital signature of Ray Lederer, concept artist from Bethesda.
  • 382 total pages, which includes a 16-page Art Gallery Section with full size in-game artwork and text from the Bethesda team only available in the Limited Edition!
  • Includes a redemption code for digital copy of the regular edition of The Art of Fallout 4 regular edition (a $29.99 value.)"

"While they're a bit low resolution for wallpaper, they clearly show some of the amazing concept art and 3D modeling work that went into the game. First up is the Pip-Boy, showing not only the rear view but also a shot at the interior - the part that makes contact with the user's arm. Also in here are gorgeous renderings of in-game power armor, Mr. Handy and other robotic nasties," the report said.
