'Fifty Shades Darker' Spoilers & Cast News: Dakota Johnson's Anastasia Steele Won't Be Funnier & Here's Why

"Fifty Shades Darker" star Dakota Johnson recently said that she wants her character Anastasia Steele to be so funny that audiences can easily laugh at her.

In an interview with Elle, Johnson said, "I needed Anastasia to be funny. If you can't laugh during a movie like that, you're f**ked. Literally. You need to have something that everyone can relate to."

Meanwhile, fans immediately started speculating that Anastasia will be funnier in "Fifty Shades Darker" compared with "Fifty Shades of Grey." According to Movie Pilot, Johnson also said that some people found it really difficult to relate to her character.

"Johnson explained how difficult it is for viewers to relate to Ana. After all, not all of us have corporate billionaires to rush us off in private helicopters (and considering what they want in return, I'm ok with that)," the publication noted.

However, Johnson only said that she needed her character to be funny but never said that will be even funnier in the intsallment.

In other news, the publication also revealed that one of the adjustments that could be done with the film has to do with defining what genre it really belongs to.

One critic watched "Fifty Shades of Grey" earlier this year and said that it lacked some sort of depth and clarity.

"Like a lot of people, I was hot with anticipation ahead of Fifty Shades of Grey. Or, rather, at the prospect of having an appalled, outraged, reaction. Yet I exited the press screening in Berlin feeling just, well, flat. It's a numbing bore of a movie, and I can't even work up much righteous indignation over its retrograde view of relationships," the critic said.

"Fifty Shades Darker" is expected to hit theaters in the United States on Feb. 10, 2017 if the filming and production wouldn't be pushed back.
