Only a few weeks away and the Duggars will once again be seen on television. Only this time, it's the two Duggar sisters, Jill Dillard and Jessa Seewald, who will be taking the spotlight, in their very own TLC specials entitled "Jill and Jessa: Counting On." While this may seem good news for the Duggar clan, dad Jim Bob is reportedly not happy.
According to a family insider, there is a brewing tension within the family, led by Jim Bob Duggar, who is still upset over the cancellation of "19 Kids and Counting," International Business Times reported.
Even if the new show's focus is on the two Duggar sisters, Jim Bob is reportedly planning to make cameo appearances and make his mark.
"Jim Bob is desperate to stay relevant and reclaim the Duggar name. The family fortune has taken a massive hit and he's fighting back," the source added.
According to Life & Style magazine, Jim Bob was making at least $45,000 per episode during the height of "19 Kids and Counting." In addition, the family was said to be receiving up to $25 million per year in sponsorships and endorsements.
Naturally, the 50-year-old patriarch would want to reclaim the family's previous fame and fortune. When the idea of the Jill and Jessa spin-off was announced last July, Jim Bob was reportedly not on board.
"He absolutely want to be back on TV and was never thrilled about the show suddenly shifting focus," a source told People.
Meanwhile, People also reported that Jim Bob was spotted during Jessa's baby shower last Oct. 15. TLC's film crew was also present on the occasion, as the event is expected to be included in the new show.
The 22-year-old Jessa is expecting her first child with husband Ben Seewald on Nov. 1. She recently posted a photo of her huge baby bump on her Instagram account.
"39 weeks 4 days! Feeling as big as a barn, so ready to meet my baby!" she wrote in the caption.
"Jill and Jessa: Counting On" is a three-part special to air on TLC this December.
